Jesus tells us in the Gospel today, "I do not come to bring peace, but division!" I thought Jesus was the Prince of Peace? Isn't this the same person who says, "My peace I leave you my peace I give you?"
I am very blessed to be part of this parish and to serve in the Faith Formation Ministry that focuses on children in Pre-school through Eighth Grade. Today’s reading from Saint Paul’s Letter to the Hebrews begins with the line “Faith is the realization of what is hoped for…”
The Gospel this Sunday tells us the story of Martha and Mary. Martha is "burdened with much serving" and is "anxious and worried about many things" whereas Mary just "sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak."
In the Gospel today, Jesus tells us that the harvest is abundant but the laborers are few. This means that there are lots of people out there who want to enter the Kingdom of God and become Catholic but very few have the courage to actually share their faith.

Fr. Christian Huebner will be coming to St. Edward’s on June 22nd and 23rd to celebrate the 5:30pm and the 9:30am Masses. He will be around after all of the Masses. Please join us on Sunday after all of the Masses for a small reception.
This last Sunday we had our first Pentecost picnic here at St. Edward the Confessor. Even though the weather did not cooperate, I was so impressed by how many came out to celebrate the birthday of the Church.
St. Edward’s Community Outreach (formally St. Vincent de Paul) will be collecting during the month of June, Healthy Snacks for the Bowie Food Pantry. We will collect individual non-perishable milk boxes (horizon), juice boxes 100% juice, 1 oz. boxes of raisins, granola bars and single serving size cereals. Please place in the plastic bins at the entrances.

June 15th will mark the 6th Anniversary of Fr. Scott’s being ordained into the priesthood. We are sure that Fr. Scott would like nothing more than your prayers to mark this occasion. Thank you Father for hearing God’s call and responding with a joy filled, “YES!” -St. Edward the Confessor Staff
