Several weekends ago, we had our Christmas Market. It was a tremendous success both as a community building event and as a fundraiser. Many people participated, and the fair exceeded all expectations generating over $5,200! The funds will be used to help pay to renovate and update our church kitchen. I want to thank Sandy Barnes for her enthusiastic leadership and for everyone who volunteered to make our Christmas Craft Fair such a great event.
After a few months of adjustment, I am getting a handle on balancing not only my responsibilities here at St. Edward’s as your pastor but also with the additional positions that Archbishop Gregory has assigned me. I have finally been able to work into my schedule as an adjunct faculty member of the Saint John Paul II Seminary, as Spiritual Director to a group of Seminarians, as well as being assigned the Chaplain of Home Schoolers for the Archdiocese. It has been a great joy for me in taking part in the formation of our future priests.
Behind the scenes, we have been working on reformatting our bulletin and website to inform our parishioners of all that is going on here at St. Edward’s, as well as text messaging service called “Flocknote”, offering a new parent program for all children receiving Sacraments this year so that they make this holy journey together. The list goes on and on.
In other news, I am excited to let you know that we have three people in our RCIA - two of whom are preparing for Baptism. They have been meeting every Sunday at 10:30am learning about the Catholic faith. As the Scripture tells us, they are "preparing the way of the Lord, and making straight His paths." Please keep them in your prayers as they prepare to receive their Sacraments. May you know the comfort of the Holy Spirit this Advent as we continue to draw closer to Christmas!
