This last Sunday we had our first Pentecost picnic here at St. Edward the Confessor. Even though the weather did not cooperate, I was so impressed by how many came out to celebrate the birthday of the Church. Thank you also to our parish council for all their hard work in putting together such a great event. It was followed by a beautiful concert with our truly phenomenal adult choir.
This weekend, we are celebrating the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity. We are also celebrating that our Dcn. Christian Huebner will have been ordained this weekend to the priesthood of Jesus Christ! Next weekend, he will be celebrating the 5:30pm and the 9:30am Mass here at St. Edward’s. He will also be giving out his blessing as a newly ordained priest. He will now be Fr. Huebner!
Speaking of fatherhood, this weekend is also Father's day weekend. It is a chance to reflect upon the value a father brings to a family. In our men's group that met last Saturday, we reflected a great deal upon the important role that a father plays in the raising of his children. Ever since the industrial revolution, when the father had to spend more time working away from home, fathers have been pulled between time spent with their family and their work to support the family that they love. It is tough being a Dad especially in this modern age. Thank you to all you Dad's out there who continually lay down your life for your family as Christ laid down his life for His Church!
God bless,
Fr. Scott
