TUTOR ENGLISH REMOTELY WITH ZOOM: HELP HISPANIC PARISH LEADERS
Do you have experience as an ESOL teacher? Would you like to learn how to tutor English by Zoom? You are invited to volunteer with the Catholic Charities virtual ESOL team. Tutors are assisting Hispanic leaders of the Vincentian Friends on the Periphery, a tri-parish group (St. Matthias, St. Mary’s Landover Hills, St. Ambrose) in Prince George’s County serving vulnerable families. Training for tutors will begin the end of August. Tutoring will occur mid-September through mid-November. For more information contact Laura.Yeomans@CC-DC.org, (202) 315-9440.

Contact your senator!
The extreme legislation that is harmful to women and their children's lives is moving ahead in the Maryland Senate right now.
We urgently need you to contact your senator to vote NO on Senate Bill 890/House Bill 937. This bill would allow non-physicians to perform abortions on women and girls across Maryland - and pay to train them with state funds.
TAKE ACTION NOW
Why this matters
Maryland already has one of the highest rates of abortion in the nation.
Pregnant women deserve high quality, life-affirming care and support, not more risk for them and their children's lives.
Public funds should not be used to train non-physicians to perform abortions on women and girls.

In the midst of the current pandemic many parishioners suffer domestic violence at home and need help. 1 out of 4 women, 1 out of 7 men have suffered severe physical violence at home in the hands of their spouse. This summer the Catholic Charities Priest Domestic Violence Advisory Committee and the Parish Partners Program updated the Domestic Violence Pastors’ Resource Packet which contains helpful guidance how to assist families suffering abuse.
If you are suffering from domestic abuse, help is available at: 1 800‐799‐7233 (24 hours); 1 800‐787‐3224 (TTY). For Catholic Charities resources how to develop a domestic violence ministry at your parish see www.catholiccharitiesdc.org/familypeace.
