Dear St. Edward’s, The Confessor Parishioners:
I am Claudio, a member of our church since 1988. In the past, with the permission of our Priest Father Scott, I have spoken to you not only as an Usher, Lector, or Eucharistic Minister but also on matters pertaining to Veterans Disabilities (not only for Veterans but also for widows/widowers and family members) that you may have incurred during your service in the Armed Forces.
I am a volunteer and certified chapter service officer for the Disabled American Veterans. DAV provides free, professional assistance to veterans and their families in obtaining benefits and services earned through military service and provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other agencies of government. We advise, instruct and counsel veterans and provide assistance in the preparation of claims for various VA benefits that veterans may be entitled.
I am one of six Chapter Service Officers that is working under the guidance of our DAV Omaha Beach Chapter #7 in Bowie, we provide services (strictly volunteerism and at no charge) to veterans both on a walk-in and appointment basis. We see walk-ins at the Chapter Home every Monday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 PM, where myself and one of our Certified DAV Chapter Service Officers (CSOs) will listen to stories and assist veterans in developing a strategy that best serves their needs. So, what does that mean? Basically, step one is to get together with you and learn more about you, your background, and your disabilities.
But, because of the Covid19 situation; until new changes will take place, and while practicing the wearing of a mask and common sense social distance, we will communicate via teleconference calls and emails to assist you on applying for a claim for Veteran Disabilities; if interested, you may reach me at:
Claudio Poiani, CSO: Chapter Service Officer

I am here to serve you and although I cannot guarantee you ‘success,’ I can guarantee that I will provide you the best advice and counsel possible and assist you in every way I can. So, dig out your DD-214 and copies of any documents that you have in your possession to support a claim and talk to me about your claim so I can define a venue that best supports you. If you don’t have everything in one spot, or can’t readily put your hands on all your documents, don’t let that prevent you from talking to me. I can still establish a starting point for working your claim and start the collection process of gathering the evidence needed to support it.
Vivat Jesus
