The Advent wreath is made of evergreens with four candles (traditionally three purple and one pink) bound to a circle of wire. The first candle is lit on the First Sunday of Advent. Two candles are lit on the Second Sunday of Advent. On the Third Sunday of Advent, the pink candle is lit with the other two. At the end of Advent all four candles are burning for the 4th Sunday. Read the Sunday gospel as a prayer with each lighting ceremony.
Place a bell or a cluster of sleigh bells in a prominent place in your home. Draw names each week after Mass and pledge to do something nice for the family member you choose. Each time you do something nice for that person, ring the bells. Listen to the sound of kindness filling your house!
Every week, fill the stable. Add the animals, the add the Blessed Mother and St. Joseph getting closer, then put them in the stable, add an empty manger. On Christmas Eve add Jesus, then the shepherds and finally the The Three Wiseman.
Have them all visible but not quite there yet. Let yourselves share in their journey.
