I just wanted to fill you all in on some of the successes we have had as a parish over the past weekend. We had our first Men’s group meeting at 9am on a snowy Saturday. I was expecting maybe 5-7 men to show up. We had 17! I was thrilled. It revealed to me that there is a deep hunger in the men of our parish to grow more deeply in their relationship with Jesus.
We also had Young Adult gathering at my house last Saturday night. We had about 20 young adults attending. I began to think that I might need to build a bigger house! All I do is open the garage door, order some pizza, and they just show up! We will be having our young adult gatherings (ages 21-35) every 1
st Saturday of the month after the 5:30pm Mass. It is a great way to make friends. Both single and married young adults are welcome!
Overall, my heart was filled with joy at watching our parish blossom. As I am writing this, I am preparing a couple of talks that I will be giving at St. John Paul II seminary. One of the parts of the talk will be about the joys of being a pastor. It can be pretty tough as a seminarian when you are having to endure tests, papers, and exams and cannot yet see the people you will be laying your life down for as a priest. Thank you for being the source of my joy and I hope I will be able to express that to the young men studying for the priesthood!
God Bless,
Fr. Scott
