The majority of our Catholic school students from St. Edward parish attend pre-K through 8th grade attend St. Pius the Tenth School in Bowie on Rt. 450.
To contact the school, visit the St. Pius X website or call them at 301 262 0203.
All four Bowie Catholic parishes share in support of the school, even giving 5% of our Sunday First Offerings to the school in financial support. Our shared clergy (of St. Edward, Sacred Heart, Ascension, and St. Pius X parishes) also assist teaching in the school (mostly in Religion classes), as well as help with liturgies, administrative work, and other activities. Some parishioners are or have been on its faculty.
The school is about 18 minutes away by car from our parish church. The school is on the campus of St. Pius X parish on Rt. 450, a mile east of the Rt. 197 intersection, and a mile west of Bowie High School.
Bishop Barry Knestout, Fr. Mark Knesout, and Fr. Dave Wells as some of the several priests who went to the school.
St. Matthias Lanham and St. Mary's Upper Marlboro are two other Archdiocesan Catholic Schools in the area for elementary and middle school years (2015).
There are many Catholic High Schools in the region. McNamara, Spalding, Pallotti, St. John's, DeMatha, Elizabeth Seton, St. Mary's, and Gonzaga are the ones most favored here.
