Traditionally, Christmas Day in the Philippines is ushered in by the nine-day dawn Masses that start on December 15th. It popularly came to be known as Misa Aguinaldo or Misa de Gallo (Rooster's Mass) in traditional Spanish. These Masses are also more popularly known in Tagalog as Simbang Gabi.
Simbang Gabi provides a strong indication of the depth of Catholicism in the hearts of Filipinos.
